From the Hiccups of Babes

Yesterday after a particularly challenging and tiring day, I guess I had a little “learning moment” from my buddies Isaac and Henry. My brother and I were just having a discussion on Monday about how much kids show you your own sin and selfishness, humble you, and hold you accountable. Well, last night at the nine o’clock feeding (my favorite feeding – it’s quiet, the boys are sleepy adorable and Brad and I are able to have actual conversations) Isaac and Henry were finished with their bottles and ready to put down for the night. We had them sitting up (burping position) and facing each other. Well, Henry had the hiccups. Poor guy, he gets them so often and so strong! However, Isaac was getting a kick out of it. He was checkin’ Henry out and beaming every time Henry hiccuped. Isaac even started trying to imitate Henry by breathing and kinda jumping on Brad’s lap. Henry started smiling from Isaac smiling. It was such a precious moment and I wish there would have been someone there to grab the video camera, but it was a sweet thing that Brad and I got to share. Okay you ready for the corny application point?

There are PLENTY of “hiccups” in life, Jen. Step back and laugh at your crazy day. Don’t let the little things get you so down that you miss the amazing things happening around you! Smile at the hiccups.

Profound, theological, deep, book worthy, huh? Hey, they aren’t even 5 months old, give them and their mama a break!

We could not do any of this on a daily basis without first of all, Jesus Christ – He gets the glory! Thank you for all that you have done to serve us. Thanks for continuing to read our blog, leaving comments of encouragement, supplying us with diapers and meals, feeding babies, thanks for your patience with us as we learn how to parent these boys, and just your overall willingness to help us. Our hearts are grateful.

Jen, I only have 2 (22 months apart ~ but both boys) and feel the hiccups (maybe burps would be a better term at our house) daily! It is amazing what God teaches you through the tiniest of moments that can have such a lasting impact on your life! Noah prayed for the Murray babies the other night ~ they can’t wait to teach them all the “cool” things that boys do! Thanks for the precious card, it is on the fridge. Love you guys ~ Jon, Marci, Noah, and Elijah Martin (Sonny too!)

What a sweet story! I can’t believe their five months old. Kudos to you, I do not know how you do it!! I know one more baby is a lot more (my twins)… I cannot imagine three more. My four keep me hopping! You are amazing and God is SO good! I am glad you are not missing those moments that count.

I am a friend of Suzanne and found you through her blog. I only have twins and can’t imagine what you guys are experiencing…but aren’t mulitples just the greatest blessing? I love when they interact and seem to have their own little internal conversation. What a special bond! Can’t wait to read back about your journey!
