God always provides…….sometimes through coupons!

The picture you see above is about half of the jars of baby food that God provided for us. Jen found a coupon online for Target that allowed us to get each one of these jars for 2 cents each. So, I went to the Michigan road Target yesterday at lunch and bought everything they had on their shelves. (280 jars!) The total cost for these was just over $6! The original price after all of the jars had been scanned was over $160. (This deal was found on babycheapskate – a great website for baby deals/coupons.)

After getting this deal and telling a few people about it, we had a couple other friends volunteer to hit other Target stores for us to try to get more on this deal. The coupon expired yesterday, so we had to get it before the store closed yesterday. This morning, I found out that Judy (our secretary here at work) and Jayson and Jenn (friends) managed to pick up a total of 234 additional jars of baby food for us. This brought our grand total to 513 jars of baby food, and almost all of it was 2 cents per jar!!

We know that this amount of baby food will most likely not last all the way through, but it will take a huge expense out for us, and we praise God for giving us the opportunity to get in on it. God has provided for every single need we have had so far, and He continues to do so.

Just wanted to share our praise with all of you!

PS Stay tuned…..we got our professional pictures back and we will be posting those images for you soon! (with permission from the photographer)

As a mom of 10m old twins, I can only imagine how much baby food you will go through in the next few months! My boys are pretty good eaters, so we go through a ton! I make my own and feel like they go through it pretty fast! What a huge blessing. God really provides in great ways! Thanks for posting the website too. I’m looking forward to checking it out.

  4. Thanks for reading, Jen. I’m glad I could help you save some money on baby food!

I took advantage of that coupon but never cleared the shelves. I took at most 10 things a visit. I thought about the fact that other people needed to shop too. That was just plain selfishness and greed on your part. God didn’t provide that for you. You helped yourself.

Hopefully you teach your children, “do as I say, not as I do” when it comes to sharing.

I have to disagree with the two posters above me….God DID provide this food for your boys! There is nothing wrong with using a coupon ( or many coupons) and buying up what is there! How horrible for someone to attack you like that!
God provides for us in many ways…this was just one!

I have to agree…there are parents out there that are in need of the baby food just as much, so when you clear shelves, you’re causing an inconvenience for them. 20 jars in a trip? Great. 150? Way overboard and inconsiderate.

There is nothing wrong with using the coupon multiple times. If Target had wanted to limit the number of jars in one transaction, they would have. And I don’t think that the Murray’s completely cleaned off the shelves at YOUR Target. During the time that the coupon was valid at my Target, many of the varieties of food were sold out, but there was always something to buy. I seriously doubt that they bought EVERY single jar and tub of food on the shelves. And what’s the point of coming in here several months after the fact and criticizing them? Just plain mean.

I work for a crisis pregnancy center, and when we find good deals, we “clear the shelves” of things (pack’n’plays on clearance for only $20.00 the other day…we bought 9 of them!) b/c we know they are going to good use and our funds are SO limited…obviously God is working in that situation to provide for the many women in great need for whom those items will be an awesome blessing! I gave out 2 of the pack-n-plays today and you should have seen the gratitude in these young mothers’ eyes!
In your case, I have a feeling that every last jar of food will be used up b/c you have 4 children! Obviously you’re not hoarding food so others can’t have it! Does my honorable friend who posted anonymously about only taking 20 jars think that you could get through more than 1 1/2 days on that amount of food for 4 hungry boys? I appreciate people with opinions, but that seems a little short-sighted. Keep finding those great deals and thanking the Lord for His provision. Also, thanks for the site. I had never heard of it before and was duly impressed!
