Look, Kids, No Hands!

One of the great things about the adventure of quads is getting to see them each achieve a new skill almost daily. Isaac starts clapping one day, Clark is the next; Henry pulls off his pants one day, Brooks pulls off his a few days later! Well, our latest and greatest accomplishment has been BOTTLE HOLDING! Let me explain to all you “normal” people that had one baby at a time (conventional, I know) how HUGE this is! Basically it means that mommy can feed 4 babies at one time! (Before I would feed 2 at a time.) So here’s the new routine….

Brooks left Clark right

Change diaper for baby A, pull out boppie, hand bottle
Change diaper for baby B, pull out 2nd Boppie, hand over bottle
Baby A is usually finished at this point (especially if I have stinkys to change) – Sit him up to burp.
Place changed Baby C on A’s boppy w/ bottle.
Change D, swap out or get new boppy with B (if finished)and sit up to burp
Baby patrol for the 2 finished and hold bottles for the rascals who decide not to cooperate
Carry Out to Feeding Table 1 by 1 to start Part 2 – Cereal and Baby Food!

Henry left, Isaac right

Simple right??? Yep, easy as pie! Well, not always….. (I’ve got little mobile critters that can escape quickly if they are distracted), but it’s major progress. I’ve cut my morning feeding time on average by about 30 minutes!

Here’s some video proof….Look Kids, No Hands!

Impressed?

  1. Boy oh boy do I look forward to this!! I keep trying to get the kiddos to hold their bottles but mine don’t seem to even know that they have hands yet. 🙂 I love the pics and video!! Thanks for posting. – Mari (Sophia, Finn, Noah & Cohen too!)

Jennifer – you continue to amaze me how well you have done with the blue crew….how you get things done at home and blog to keep us all updated and never miss a beat with the boys is beyond me!!! I’m sure you are extremely organized – you’d have to be!!! Way to go my dear!!! Hard to believe they are approaching the one year birthday…cutest little groundhogs I’ve ever seen – ha! I’m still curious – do they both the Christmas tree at all? The first year I had my puppy, I didn’t even decorate the bottom of the tree – she is 2 now and after one poke in the nose from the branch, she decided that wasn’t for her and it’s a fake tree – ha! As far as any traditions – I can’t really think of anything other than we open our stockings on Christmas Eve – because Tim’s 3 have sooo many gifts on Christmas morning – the kids get bored – now I know that’s sad – but true!!! It will be a fun one for all of you and a huge Blessing to know they are all doing so well on their first Christmas!!! Enjoy!!! Love ya!

Love that the boys can hold their own bottles!!! We have a 6mo old and are enjoying our freedom as we’ve been using the Podee bottle with him – it’s wonderful and completely hands free as our little guy only holds the bottle for a few moments!!

  5. I was excited when one of my two could hold his own! Yeah boys! Great post on Babycheapskate, too!

I know why this is a real milestone to celebrate. So… are you home alone all day with all four boys with no help? They are doing so well!

I have one that can hold a bottle, but even that is a big help…I lay her on a boppy like u, hand bottle, feed two while one is waiting…feeding time done to 20-30 minutes for 4 babies!!!! More time to play.

Huge milestone… I remember it like it was yesterday for my girls too. You will blink about 3 more times and they’ll be all done with bottles and walking all over the place. Aren’t blogs great for preserving these precious memories?

  11. Mine never learned this I think they were just plain lazy! Had to give them sippy cups with straws until they were 17 months old because they refused to even tip the danged thing! Glad they are making things easier on you!

Wow! This is a huge milestone!!! My babies have only been home for 2weeks and I already daydream about the day they can hold their own bottles! 🙂 Hope you and your family are doing well and are having a great holiday season! We are all doing great and I feel so blessed to have my girls home for Christmas. We will have to figure out a time for our kiddos to meet! Talk to you soon!!!

It is so fun to read about your boys and see what new discoveries there are each day! We’re looking forward to hopefully catching up with you guys at Christmas or this Spring. 🙂

    Have a great week!

What I want to know is what are you doing with the extra 30 minutes these boys are saving you?:) Use these minutes however you wish, you have earned them!!! I admire you and your family so much.

    Love, Laurie in Ca.
