Backyard Barber

Clippers have proven to be a wise investment for our family.  This being the 4th haircut (the 2nd do-it-ourself version), I think the boys have officially inherited the thick hair gene (esp. Brooks and Clark).  Brad did a fantastic job turning them into little men…they grow before my eyes as the hair falls off.  The backyard makes a perfect barber shop and keeps me from cleaning up millions of fine little hairs for DAYS! Some little birdie is making a mansion of a nest outta these boys’ locks!

You’ll have to wait for the next post to get the "after" look.  I have some great videos that I cannot wait to share!!!!

  1. I love the backyard barber shop idea! My husband has learned to clip his own hair and we clip our cocker ourselves. Now…..if my DH would learn how to cut my hair! Yikes…that could be scary! And starting the boys young, they will be used to the clippers! Can’t wait to see the “after” pictures……..

I remember believing my kids (singleton 14 yrs old and twins age 8 1/2) shouldn’t have haircuts until they were a year old – but then wondering “why did I wait?” They look so different with the haircuts. The boys turned into little men – my daughter? well – she didn’t get a haircut at a year – cause she really did’t have any hair until over the age of 2.

Can’t wait to see the AFTER pics!

Can’t wait to see the “after” pics! For some funny reason, I had a “blog friend” dream last night. You and your boys were in it – it was like a huge backyard barbeque with all the people from the blogs I read. Weird.

that’s EXACTLY what i do for jared and his haircuts. how funny! boy’s haircuts are so much easier (and cheaper to do yourself with clippers). i don’t know what i’m going to do in cutting/trimming our girls’ hair. hm…beauty school for me 😉

can’t wait to see the end result pics!

Our clippers have served us well also! I wish I had gotten pictures of my boys having their hair cut this weekend. :O)

I’ll check back to see how great they looked when they were done. I’m glad that I found your blog!

LOL! That’s EXACTLY what I do w/ Nathan! He doesn’t sit very well for me after about the first 30 seconds. I bet the neighbors are watching me through their windows, laughing at me chasing him w/ the clippers! ugh!

Some tips that you might already know. Baby powder works pretty well for getting the itchy hair off their necks until you can get them into the tub. Sometimes I have a hairdryer set on cool nearby too. It helps to blow the little hairs aways.

My son had his first haircut at 7 weeks! Now I clip him in the backyard too… but beware, the winter is coming!!!

They’re sooooooo cute! I can’t wait until Frankie gets enough hair to actually cut. Guess he’s going to be like his Mommy – won’t have much hair until he’s two (or later). lol

Thanks for sharing your “big” boy pics. Can’t wait to see the after photos. 🙂
