It Takes Two, Baby

While I was out grocerying (yes, it’s a verb) a few nights ago the coolest thing happened between Isaac and Clark.  Here’s Brad’s account of how it happened:

"Brooks and Henry were on my lap reading a book. Usually, the other two would be hounding me to try to fit all four of their growing rear ends on my lap, but Isaac and Clark were already occupied with something. When I looked up to see what they were doing, my jaw about hit the floor. A father’s dreams were coming true right in front of my eyes.  I watched them do this for a solid 5 minutes in amazement. Then it hit me to grab the camera and try to attempt to catch it as best as possible with two wiggle worms in my lap.  Here’s the result:"

That’s reality at its best!  Interrupted or not, it was a highlight of how brothers can be buddies and a reminder to be thankful that they have each other as God-given playmates.

How about those of you with more than one child?  What kinds of things do they enjoying doing together (peacefully)?

  1. Mine will "paint" anything with a cup of water and a paintbrush, peacefully! They love to "paint" the dollhouse. My mom used to let us paint the brick of our house outside with water.

  2. SO cute! My twins like to share a snack peacefully, and usually play together with toys peacefully too. (They'll both work on the same shapesorter, etc.) They do not look at books together peacefully however!

so sweet! and hilarious. sounds a lot like our house when a sibling grabs another toy! lol. ours are big into kiss-kissing and figuring out ring-a-round-the-rosie as of late.

So cute! I love it when my 2 year old (almost) tickles his brother and sister (twins, almost one)

My 3 year old twins will do just about anything together peacefully…for a few minutes at least. 🙂 Their favorite things currently are playing in the pool and in the sandbox!

My twins love to play together. It always turns to cries though when one is "done " playing and the other isn't. It's the biggest fights they get in. They don't really like to play independently much from one another, still working on that.

I love the idea of painting with water and paint brushes. We will try that out for sure~

  7. Can't wait for these days! Looks like they had great fun!

  8. So precious…looks like the boys are starting to play catch early 🙂

I wish I could think of a peaceful interaction to tell you, but all I can hear in my mind is the screams from sister as brother hits her. They had a bit of a we-don't-like-each-other day. Glad to see your boys buddying up.

My children are not multiples, but very close in age. One thing they have loved doing is easter egg hunt. (They are 4 and 3) One child hides eggs while the other hides their eyes. Then the other goes to find them all! It is so much fun and they do it whenever they find the basket of eggs.

AWESOME! Love the crying at the end, too. 😉 Yesterday Lucy became *very* interested in Dahlia's pacifier and scooted herself on her bottom to grab it from her mouth! And now I can see that it will only get better … 😉

That was so cute!!! Maybe quads will be easier in the long run because they are a built-in team! haha.

Oh and to follow-up on your issue with the swim diapers — Babies R Us has 40% off their swimsuits this week and they have some trunks with built-in diapers (Just $10 before the sale…so really cheap). Thought I'd mention

My triplets just turned 18 mo today so nothing they do is peaceful yet! But they do think it's funny to wrestle each other. So we've been entertained lately with some great wrestling moves! 🙂

That's so cool! Way to go, Isaac and Clark, for figuring out the game of catch. You know once it catches on they will all be playing it the rest of their lives.

  18. How awesome! Even better that they totally initiated it while Brad was with the other boys!

I was at the playground with all 3 of my kiddos yesterday. I had been walking around with the twins but the baby was hungry so I found a bench to sit on while I fed him and kept an eye on the other two. I was just amazed at how much fun they were having together…creating their own 'games' and ideas of what to do next.

    "C'mon Jacob. Over here!"
"Sarah! Lets do the slide again!"
    "Mama! We're climbing a mountain!"

It was awesome to sit back and watch!! Love that we've gotten to this point already! So much more fun to come!!

I remember the first time I looked in my rearview mirror and found my girls holding hands. Moments that just melt your heart.
