Meals, Mayhem, and Miracle Memories (Part 2)

BQ (Before Quads) I envisioned tucking my little one into bed for the night by saying a prayer, giving a kiss goodnight, and perhaps reading a bedtime story.

Peaceful, Warm, Tender Moments.

Step into our reality and it resembles mayhem, a 20 minute chaos that leaves us breathless and spinning. A routine that includes hugs, kisses, stuffed animal swapping, jumping, joyful shouting, tears, songs with hand motions (Oh how I love a man who is secure enough in his masculinity to do hand motions!), and other various performances.

Here’s a sampling of our "Bedtime Greatest Hits". (I’ll have to check with itunes to see when these will be available for downloading. *wink*)

Side Note: I converted this video to black and white to reduce the symptoms of motion sickness while watching this clip.

It’s not exactly the bedtime routine that I pictured, but treasured moments, nonetheless.

Is your nightly routine mayhem or a soothing bliss?  What are some ways that you keep it concise and peaceful?

Bedtime for my twins is a piece of pie, for my 2 year old (well almost) it's not so easy. He is now in a toddler bed (we need his crib for the twins room) and he wakes up and comes to our room every night.

BTW, Love the video of Jesus Loves Me!

  7. That was the cutest video. Me and my daughter (15) really liked it. Our favorite little boy was the one in the middle of the 3 that jumped the whole time. He was really into it. Our second was the little boy on the opposite side of the rest. After little spider, you could actually hear him clap and say Yea. So cute… You are truly blessed..

too cute! so, what is the black octogon on the wall? I made out that there is a sheet/curtain over the window, but what is the big black thing to the right? And I thought putting my 2 that ar 15m apart to bed was mayhem…. whooo. do you jsut let them talk themselves to sleep?

  10. What an awesome video! It gets me excited for bedtime when Sophia is a little bit older!! (Although, minus the jumping up and down!)

You still have the engery to sing after wrestling with them for final diapers and pjs? Now that's impressive.

I loved the hopping in their cribs. That's awesome.

My twinks are mayhem until they get into their cribs. Once in we cover them with their blankets and they play possom. So totally cute – especially when they peek.

That's hilarious! They've heard those songs just a couple times, right? At around 2 years, we incorporated a children's Bible story and prayer time, while we all sit on the floor. It's also a good spot for one more snuggle before "night night".

  13. Karen says:

Hi, the crock dinner was awesome! needed more salt though:) I put it on too soft of a roll though, needs a harder roll so it doesn't get soggy. It was a lot like a french dip.

  14. KSDallas says:

That was one of my favorite videos ever. SOOOO CUTE!

  15. Susan says:

Oh my goodness, they are cute but they are not acting the least bit tired…..do they quiet down themselves and just chat for a bit? Very cute.

  16. Shayla says:

    What a great family video!!!!

I love that yall let them express themselves by jumping, singing, hand motions, etc 🙂

  17. Kate says:

Awesome. Seriously awesome. Mylo was watching that with me and was LOVIN' it. Need one more 2 year old in the mix? I'll send him over. 🙂

Too cute!!! We let our son pick who he wants to read him a story and let him pick out the story and then say a prayer and good night and that we love him then has been our routine for a while now.

  19. Stephanie says:

I think that is my favorite video EVER!
I just want to kiss all their little bouncing heads!
I bet you didnt imagine bedtime like that, but I know you wouldnt change it for anything in the world!!

  20. So cute! Our bedtime routine *used* to be very relaxed and wonderful…then they turned two! Actually, they were really good until a couple of weeks ago; now we're battling drinks, more prayers, more songs, more books, and just plain not wanting to go to bed. But with two older boys, I know this too shall pass and I will greatly miss it!

  21. susan says:

ok…..as a mother of six with twins thrown in at the end ……I get a little tired of kind, sweet people saying…."I don't know how you do it!" because you just do…..BUT…..that was the cutest video I have seen in goodness knows how long. I don't know how you both do it!! I take my hat off to you quad mammas over & over & over.

The 'mayhem' of toddler bedtimes becomes quiet story time all too soon, then by the teen years they are up longer than we are!!! haha

    Susan xx

  22. Sarah says:

HEEHEE! that video made me smile so much! I love how they actually sing the songs. sooo cute!

But it also reminded me of bedtime with my almost 3 year old. JUST ONE MORE SONG. MORE. MORE! haha…I think we had to sing about 5 songs before he could go to sleep….and they had to be in a particular order. 🙂

now, he will do good with book, prayers, and a story made up by us. and it always has to be about a Green Bug. Why a green bug? I have no idea. LOL

  23. Meg says:

soooo funny. I have one 19-month old. I can't imagine 4!!!! Do they keep each other up at night? Mine will sing to herself for hours in an effort to stay awake.

    This made my day though
