Because Staying In Is The New Going Out
I’m sporting this T-shirt today, because you guessed we are STAYING IN for NYE (New Year’s Eve). I’m totally okay with it because we are having Brad’s sister and husband and his sister and husband (that’s a mouth full!) over for some chowing, chatting, and chiming in the New Year.
What are YOU doing New Year’s?
Does it involve GOING OUT or STAYING IN?
If you’re GOING OUT share your plans with us, so those of us who are staying in can somehow justify how we are “cooler” for staying put. =)
If you’re STAYING IN what’s on your menu? What kinds of things do you do to entertain your family or guests?
Why did you pick one over the other?
staying in here too:)
We are definitely staying in this year. We are going to be celebrating the dropping of the ball in Times Square, even though we live in California. A 9pm celebration is just the right timing for us!
We will be celebrating with a steak and potato dinner followed by a "make-your-own sundae" bar. The kids each got to pick out their favorite toppings and we are going to let them make the most extravagent sundae they want.
Staying in as well over here in NJ. Snow falling, hot chocolate being made for the boys, good eats all day long! Happy New Year!

We're staying in as we do most years. I'd prefer to spend it with our kids and watch their excitement over the new year. We do an appetizer dinner (the kids choose the menu). This year we're doing bacon wraps (recipe from pioneer woman's blog), sausage balls, little smokies in the chili/jelly sauce, queso and chips, ranch dip with veggies and ruffles, and summer sausage/ Gouda/crackers. We leg the kids take turns choosing movies and watch movies and play games until well after midnight.
We are going out/staying in. Heading out for dinner with some friends and then hanging out at their house with all the kiddos (4 total). Should be fun and we probably won't make it to midnight but I don't mind. Hope we can get the boys together in 2010. Happy New Year!
We are headed out to stay in with a fellow triplet momma and her family. Our triplets are 5 months apart (hers just turned 9 and mine will be 9 in May) and we each have a singleton too! We will be spending the night which will give our kiddos some much needed quality time together.
I am taking pepperoni dip and buffalo chicken dip and some puppy chow (for people). Yum!
WHERE did you get that adorable shirt!!? I have a few mommies I know who would LOVE that! 😀
God bless! Oh, and we are headed to some dear friends for games, and praying in the new year! 😀

amen to staying in. we are hangin' at home…just the three girls, mike, and i. we usually have a few friends over (we rarely ever go out on new years…yeah…we're nerds like that) but the friend thing didn't work tonight. we're eating appetizers for dinner (buffalo chicken dip, meatballs, veggies and dip and rice krispie treats (okay…not an appetizer…but the girls had fun making them with me!)…probably watching a kiddo movie while we eat those…and then once we ring in an early new year with the girlies, mike and i will probably just watch a movie, play some games and be in bed LONG before midnight! 🙂 like i said, we are NERDS!
We stay in each year. We fondue and the kids get to each pick two snacks from the store – one sweet, one salty. We spend the night playing games and watch the ball drop at midnight! Fun times – we so enjoy spending it with our kids 🙂
We are staying in! When we go up to my in-laws we usually go somewhere or they host a party. But when we're at home we just stay home. I know my parents are coming over and maybe my aunt and cousin's family.
Right now the food plan is pizza, cheese ball, these ham, spinach rollup things, and puppy chow. We'll see what everyone else brings!
We are staying put here too! But we're having 2 other families over and I am SOOOOO looking forward to it.
I've got Cincinnati Chili in the crockpot to warm everyone up after this cold midwest day!!
HAVE FUN Murrays!!
I guess I'm doing both? I'm going to my Father in law's. We are having chili, sandwiches, shrimp and corn soup, rotel dip, and whatever else and will be building a HUGE bonfire 🙂
Ahhh … with 5 kiddos, its pretty hard to do the "going out" And this year I'm on my own, as dear hubby as to work. I bought some specail snacks and hats and stuff, the kids and I will watch the ball drop on TV.
Although I did promise myself that some year we will attend the Minnesota Miracle New Year's Eve Celebration. Its a great family friendly benefit event. Check it out here:

Staying in! Games, tacos, cards, kids and I hope lots of laughing! Trying to keep hubby awake til midnight!
We almost always stay in.
#1 – when you have the kinds of special needs we do with our kids … babysitters are slim pickins'.
#2 – we like to go out NOT when the entire rest of the world is going out. Crowded does not = fun.
#3 – if my body tells me at 11:15 pm that staying up til midnight will be a stupid idea … I can listen and obey.
I'd love to know where you got the shirt!!!
Ps long time lurker- love your blog 🙂 you are so encouraging and fun to read!!
A-Men sistah. We're staying in also on NYE. We ordered in Japanese – sushi and appetizers – which my son loves and are drinking wine and hanging out watching movies and the ball drop all night. 🙂
Ohh my goodness that tee is too awesome Jen!!
Btw, thats incredible about your hitting the front page of the Indy paper!! My sister told me about it! I was just talking to a friend about how you put kits together for the NICU. Her mom works at the NICU at Riley's…so I spread the word some =) I also told her about your blog! Happy New Year to you, Brad, & the Quads!-Sioby
We are part of the "cool kids club" and staying in this year! We ordered in from Stone Creek Grill and watched Butler win! We will be enjoying Kroger's "Private Selection" English toffee ice cream for dessert (would highly recommend). 🙂 But…I have to be honest that if we could have gotten a babysitter we would have probably gone to the Butler game and maybe had a dinner date! 🙂 Happy New Year!
Love the shirt! I know many fellow moms who would love it!
We are spending the evening at home. Just relaxing and walking around wondering what to do. An early night is in store for us this year and I am actually thrilled about it!
I stayed in and went on Facebook! Yippee!
We haven't gone out since we had our child 4 yrs ago. We stay in and make some kind of snack and watch a family movie. Happy New Year
I'm a day late…Yesterday we had our twins' preschool class over for a "Noon Year's Eve" party. We rang in 2010 at noon with streamers, horns, cute hats and 10 preschoolers shouting "Happy New Year"! It was the best.
I just found your blog. We grabbed dinner and then stayed in … I was too queasy to eat much. I found out I am expecting quadruplets in the middle of December. I am now 9 1/2 weeks along and excited and scared all at once. I plan on going back and reading your blog, but any advice would be greatly appreciated as well!
I pray you have a wonderful 2010!
we stayed in – didn't even have friends over. I know, totally lame. But….we did make a killer dinner thanks to my new Pioneer Woman's Cookbook. Gotta love that…
