Quads 1st Christmas Program

I’ve been having lots of surreal moments this holiday season.  Moments that flash me back to the pregnancy and I stop in amazement at the life I’m living out with 4 miracles.

Last week it happened when I stepped inside the NICU doors for the first time since we carried our preemies out in their car seats.  Last night it was when my 4 little guys participated in their first Christmas program.  Had it really been 3 years since I got special permission from Dr. Sumners to attend my nephew’s first Christmas program?  It’s hard to believe that much time has lapsed since my borrowed Lazy Boy Bedrest Mobile was transported to the back entry of the church so I could be present for his big debut, not knowing what the next Christmas would hold.

So watching them up there was quite a moment, to say the least. It didn’t bother me the slightest that they didn’t sing or do the motions.  You and I both know they know it by heart.  All that mattered was they are all here with us now.

It’s the season of miracles.

After the program we celebrated with cookies, friends, and family!

    I can't believe that they stayed STILL that entire time! My daughter (gestationally the exact same age as your boys) would NEVER be able to do that for more than 2.3 seconds. And even that is an accomplishment. But oh how I love to hear 2-year-olds sing!!!

  4. That was so sweet! They did fantastic!
    I did a lot of reflecting this year on our boys during our Christmas program, also, but was not brave enough to allow them to be in it yet!!

    Your boys are precious !
    And they really wanted to sing by the way the little hands were going.!

    Jen,
    I have been a follower from the start…Love your post. Being a daycare mom for over 32 years and a 2/3 yr. old sunday school teacher for over 20 years this post hit close to my heart and I LOVED IT.. this was in my this week lesson and I had never read it before thought you might like to share it with your boys.

    Twas the night before Christmas, the eve of Christ’s birth;
    Many people were resting all over the earth.
    The shepherds were watching their sheep in the night,
    When all of a sudden, they saw a bright light.
    And what to their wondering eyes should appear
    But a beautiful angel, high up in the air.
    His face was all shining, his garment so bright,
    That the shepherds began to tremble with fright.
    But as he came nearer, the words that he said
    Soon gave them to know there was nothing to dread.
    He told them of peace, with no fear or danger,
    For their wonderful gift they would find in a manger.
    So, leaving their sheep they went into town,
    To seek for the gift; they would look all around.
    They came to a stable, the covers they lift,
    And there in the manger, God’s wonderful gift.
    So pure and so holy, so full of God’s love,
    They knew it was Jesus, God’s gift from above.
    And so we think of this Savior again,
    May our worship this Christmas not be in vain.
    Let us love him and trust him; there’s none that’s too small;
    May the Lord richly bless you, Merry Christmas to all!

    God Bless,
    Dianne

  8. how sweet!! My own kids have yet to perform in anything like this, but as a teacher, I get a little teary eyed watching my students each year perform in their music programs. I often have my students several years in our special ed program and its times like these that makes me realize how far they've come and see the 'halos' above their lil heads!

    Merry Christmas!
