A Taste of Absence Does The Heart Good
This weekend Brad and I were able to get a short little breather. It’s amazing what some comfort food (while it’s still warm) and a couple hours away with some good reads will do to recharge your spirit. Uninterrupted conversation and riding in the car, rather than a van filled with car seats, was a welcomed retreat. Funny how holding hands can feel a little more like high school again. And how you could care less about traffic or waiting in a line, because you’re not rushed for once. And although the time passed too quickly, and responsibilities awaited us at home, we feel more empowered and energized to make it through the week.
It always amazes me how even a little taste of absence can make the heart grow fonder.
It does the heart good, doesn’t it?
(Special thanks to Brad’s parents for giving us a much needed recharge.)
Ah, I couldn't agree more. Great post.
Yahoo for getting a nice break! Ya'll deserved it! Hang in there mama! You rock 🙂

I am so happy for you! That was very well deserved!
I agree!
Those books sound interesting! Will have to look those 2 up!
Sooo glad you could get some time off. Not rushing – that's always the best part for me. Slowly standing in line, slowly eating, slowly reading, slowly using the restroom ALONE! Such wild and rare bliss!!
Ahhhh, so glad you guys were able to get away. Ted and I also escaped (just for the afternoon/evening) to attend a wedding up north. Have only been away together for that long one other time since the babies came, and that was a year ago for another wedding. I need more of my friends to get married, please! LOL!
The same thing happened for us this weekend. Becoming instant parents of 3 kids under 3 ( 2 foster – soon to be adopted!) puts a strain in a lot of places. And tho I wouldn't trade it for anything… we DO need breaks! Ya for you! Ya for us! I am refreshed and I feel like I'm in love all over again!
How nice! We got a weekend away a few weeks ago for a wedding. Our first night away in over 2 years and only the 2nd time we'd been away overnight with any of our kids. They were in good hands and it was great for us to get away! Hope to hear what fun you and Brad got into!
