Aint No Party Like A Potty Dance Party

Brooks and I were too sick to dance on Saturday, but Brad and the other 3 headed down to Indianapolis The Children’s Museum for The Pull-Ups Potty Dance Party with  Ralph’s World.

The turn out was amazing – eager parents ready to motivate their tots and have FUN in the process!

They put on quite the party that even our potty dance graduates enjoyed, complete with blow up electric guitars, singing, and of course DANCING!

Brooks and I watched the live feed on Pull-Ups.com and spotted the brothers and daddy dancing a few times. (We blew kisses via Twitter.)

 potty dance at home

The Potty Dance worked sooooo well, that the little dudes had to take a potty break mid-concert! =)

These little dudes came home so excited, and immediately went into concert mode, with their guitars, pretend microphones, and maracas. What a hoot!

I’m either lazy or a cynic, but I really think what most motivates a child is that THEY want to be potty trained. Not treats, not friends, not encouragement, but that they have decided they want to use the toilet. All the others definitely help though!

  2. April says:

We are just about to start potty training, so this would be perfect timing! We have bought a potty, a baby doll that goes potty, mini m&m’s, cute panties, flushable wipes, step stool to help wash hands.

  3. Kristy says:

I was hoping candy would motivate…granted, he loves candy – but apparently not enough to potty in the potty. I think when he decides he wants to, he will. Any potty help would be great though.

  4. Beth says:

Perfect timing!! I am just starting to potty train my 2 1/2 yr old quads and I’m scared! I’ll take any and all help you can send!!

So far we are rewarding with m&ms, but truthfully the biggest motivator has just been wearing big girl panties and big boy bottoms!

We presently use what we call “chocolate kisses” (which are really just chocolate chips). When the kids (I’m presently training 2 boys at the same time) are first starting out, they get a “kiss” each time they sit on the potty for 5 minutes– even if they don’t ‘go’. Once they learn to pee, they get high fives for pee and only get kisses when they go number 2. With one of our daughters, we used a “big girl chart” that received a sticker every time she made potty-progress. When she got to 10 stickers, we took her to ice cream. I think every child responds to different techniques. We have 5 kiddos, and each is entirely unique.

  8. Gretchen says:

I’m a few months from this, but I’m hoping my girlie will want to be a big girl like mommy! So WE’LL SEE!

  9. Megan grisez says:

M&ms for each successful attempt along with a sticker chart.

  16. I’m definitely motivated to not have to buy diapers anymore after 4+ years of it! Unfortunately….my two year old has a different opinion – he’s terrified of the potty! 🙁

I don’t need a potty dance right now (mine are 8 & 10 yrs old!), but I wanted to say that my nephew was at the same event and had a blast! When we were training our kids I made up a son and we did a dance with it and called it the “Potty Party”. We did it each time they went on the potty (along with M&M’s). I can still sing the song, it’s kind of like a Wiggles Song. I think that kids can still sing it, too! Oh, the memories!! 🙂

Hi. I saw our family in one of your photos from the Ralph’s World concert. The free 3 pack sample of pull-ups we got from Ralph has motivated my daughter for now. Hopefully the sticker chart to earn prizes will help too.

I am hoping that my youngest will be motivated by watching her big sissy on the potty. I know she loves her mama but big sissy is her world. Let’s hope it works.
