Finding Beauty in Brokenness: Bible Verses
In this brokenness I’m determined to find glimmers of beauty. Last time I shared some books that have ministered to me during the loss of our pregnancy, and this week I wanted to share some verses and passages of Scripture that have been balm to my soul. I’ve received a generous stack of cards from dear friends, and I’ve been going through each passage and verse one by one that they have shared. I cannot tell you how much those verses have meant to me through this trial, especially in this waiting part!
I’m praying that God’s Word can be a light unto your path as you may be facing your own trials, grief, and burdens.
You aren’t alone, and there is One who can carry you when you can’t face these long days on your own…
Bible Verses for Finding Beauty in the Brokenness:
Romans 8:28-31 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
Psalms 46:1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.”
2 Corinthians 12:9,10 “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
Psalm 16:7-9 “I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.”
2 Corinthians 1:3,4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
Psalm 34:7 “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 27:13,14 “I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!
Romans 15:13 “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Mark 9:24 “Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”
Psalm 34:1-4 “I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together! I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”
Hebrews 4:15,16 “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
What verses have encouraged you through difficult days?
Many of the same scriptures you mentioned especially Romans 15:13, and specifically for my difficult situation, Psalm 37 and Proverbs 3:5-6, ” Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Thank you for these Jen…
My grandma recently went to Heaven…I have read this verse countless times since. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”~Isaiah 41:10
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. My favorite verse of all time!
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” Isaiah 43:2,3.
Psalm 31 is what i read in my hospital bed after the ultrasound that told us our son had died
Revelation 21:4-5 AMP
God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more, neither shall there be anguish (sorrow and mourning) nor grief nor pain any more, for the old conditions and the former order of things have passed away. [Isa. 25:8; 35:10.] And He Who is seated on the throne said, See! I make all things new. Also He said, Record this, for these sayings are faithful (accurate, incorruptible, and trustworthy) and true (genuine). [Isa. 43:19.]
Psalm 27:13-14 NIV
I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord ; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord .
Hebrews 13:5
I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. KJV
