Snow Angels
Okay, so they are FAR from angelic, but they do look so sweet and innocent in the midst of a winter wonderland. Well, except when they have snowballs in their hands.
I love these little bundles of cuteness…
The way they crinkle their noses and squint their eyes as the snow falls…
Their wide teethy smiles…
And the way that watching their delight makes me fall in love with this white magic all over again.
Do you sing “Let It Snow” while the flakes fall? Loathe the thought of coats, hats, and gloves? Never seen it? What’s the weather like out your front door?
Wow, I wish we had some of that where I live! We’re in Phoenix and it was 80 degrees yesterday…. and after a summer of 115 or more, and fall of 90s, I am READY for some cold weather. I might get tired of it quickly, but I would be very happy to be bundled up for the cold right now!
I can’t even imagine a HOT Christmas, Margaret! Soak up a little sunshine for me!
Having grown up in a ski resort I love snow! So I was delighted to get some two weeks ago. However, I now live in Scotland, which does not handle winter very well. Not at all. No winter tires, very few snow snowploughs…
We were snowed in for a week, then finally normal life resumed again, only to come to a sudden stop again after a few hours when a pretty significant snow storm struck. We even had the army in Edinburgh to clear snow. Over the weekend we had some warmer weather, but the forecasts predict more snow later this week. Not that I mind, but I want to fly home for Christmas and have now seen that not only airports will be closed as soon as a few inches of snow are on the ground, but trains and buses also stop operating.
So I love snow, just not the panic and chaos it causes around here!
So interesting to read this, Sarah and what you experience in Scotland. Would LOVE to visit there one day!
If you ever do, let me know, I’d be happy to show you and your family around! I’m sure your four little knights would love all of our castles and the wonderful stories associated with them!
It just started snowing in Annapolis, MD a half hour ago…and the snow is beginning to cover the lawns! Your boys are adorable! I imagine they were mighty tired after playing outside in the snow. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Gail! Your comments are always such an encouragement! Enjoy the winter wonderland outside your window!
looks much the same out my window this morning.
Northern Indiana got some good stuff!:)
18 inches of snow on Saturday and -6 degrees right now in Northern Wisconsin. I love living here!
Wow. That’s a TON of snow. =) And Brrry.
Much more brave than I was through the snow/cold. We did not get that much in Illinois about 2 inches. It totally amazes me how kids just do not seem fazed by the cold. They look like they were bundeled up very good and definately make some good snowballs for sure. Have a great day. Sherri
I actually took these pictures last weekend when we had the 1st snow (it was warmer). I’m sneaky like that! =)
Dallas had a little cold snap over the weekend (high in the upper 40s), but it is already working its way out. Today should be in the 50s, tomorrow the 60s and we should be in the 70s by Wednesday. Then the next cold front moves in and we’ll drop back down to 30 or 40 for a day or two before going back up to the 60s/70s. We will bounce up and down like this for the next several weeks. (This is the reason most everyone in Dallas is sick this time of year.) The end of January into February is when it gets the coldest here. We did get a record amount of snow last February, but that was a real fluke. Generally we get iced over roads and maybe an inch or two of snow for the whole year.
I grew up in the Midwest and loved the snow, didn’t even mind getting bundled up. But I’m in Phoenix now and we’re having gorgeous weather–sunny and high 70s. I miss the winter wonderland but it’s a lot easier to get around when it’s not freezing and ice-covered.
Your boys do look quite angelic!!!
wow. ok I’m sure you hear this all the time… but second pictures down (the pair of pix) boy on the right… dont know which quad that is… but HE IS YOUR TWIN!!! He looks so much like you! (: Darling pictures by the way!
The weather certainly is not frightful where I live! The temps are hovering around 80 here in the desert of Southern California! Rather delightful if I do say so myself!
Though I would like to experience one white Christmas in my lifetime!
Well, where do I begin????
My 5 year-old daughter was grocery shopping with me one day. I had been to the feminine hygiene section and put some tampons in the cart. Then we headed to the produce dept. I had my back turned to my daughter as she asks me a question. “Mommy, what is this?” I turned around to see her with the box of tampons not just in her hand, but her arm was way up in the air and she was waiving them! Not only that but there was a young guy standing on the other side of our cart stacking produce and watching the whole thing unfold. I was so embarrassed. I told her it (the box of tampons) was nothing and went on my merry way. I remember feeling the blood race to my face that time.
Here’s another one.
I was standing in line at the bank machine. I had all 3 of my kids with me. My oldest son was about 4 at the time. Standing in front of us was a beautiful, tall and slender lady. She had beautiful high heels on that accentuated her feet. Phyllip noticed her feet and couldn’t quit looking. After a while, he looks up at me and says, “Mommy, look (while pointing)! She has LOOONNNGGG toes!” The lady turned around and looked at me and then Phyllip with somewhat of a disgusted look. I don’t remember exactly what my reaction was with that one, but I was very embarrassed!
Ok, sorry for the wrong comment on the wrong post.
This was supposed to be under “Kids say the most embarrassing things” post.
Don’t worry! It made me giggle regardless!
Ooo, we’re longing for snow here in Colorado! That is, until we’re on the road to Montana on Christmas Day–then I’d prefer the spring-like weather we’ve been having. Cute pics of your boys that made me smile…enjoy!
I dropped my boys off at school this morning wearing a short-sleeved shirt and jeans ~no jacket! This weekend we had such beautiful weather I was cruising around in shorts. My two youngest boys have never seen snow! What different worlds we live in, dear!!
(Beautiful photos, by the way ~WOW!)
We got dumped on yesterday and as a teacher, I’m excited to say we have a snow day here in MI! But its FREEZING outside! I just got in from snow blowing/shoveling our very long driveway and my legs are icicles! My kids want to play in it but its too cold to let them go out (esp since 2 were sick this weekend!). (currently only 9 degrees with a windchill off -11!!)
awe they look so adorable all bundled up in the snow:)
The rain we had just turned to snow, and this is one happy lady! I can’t wait to go out in it. I even love shoveling!
It’s been in the 70’s every day now for about two weeks! Arizona winters are awesome! We do all our outdoor stuff in the winter like hiking, picnicing and even occasionally swimming while the rest of the country is stuck indoors all winter long. We won’t talk about the summer.
So stinkin’ cute!! I live in a ski town and work as a ski instructor so I LOVE the snow! However while you flatland folks have been getting dumped on, it’s been waaaay too warm here and all of our snow is melting. Please, send some back to us! 🙂 (PS If you ever want to come visit and take ski lessons, just let me know. 🙂
We’ll try to send some your way, Lacy! Where shall we send it? I’ve never tried skiing, but I’d love to try it!
