Keeping Your Cool
It’s been a HOT one in Indiana. Most of our activities this week have involved water and sunscreen.
We’ve splashed at a splash park not too far from us…
Ran through the sprinkler…
It looks like next week’s forecast is calling for a repeat…
What else should we do to keep our cool around here? Your ideas are welcome!
I’m a Southern Girl so we send the girls out and they play with the garden hose!
Even Northern Girls do that! =) Love it!
Sigh…. Our county fair starts Thursday, and I pray we can keep all the animals cool in this heat! Same goes for the people! 😉
What is it with fairs and heat waves? They always seem to travel in pairs. Hope you can make the most of it, Lana!
It has been well over a hundred for 16 straight days here in TX. There is not a whole lot you can do to stay cool unless it involves water or AC. Today they are calling for a high of only 98 – only.
We try to find somewhere we can walk around that has some AC – the antique malls are always great. It is better than places like Walmart because you aren’t as tempted to buy stuff. Museums are another great choice and you can often find discount tickets for them. We will take the dogs to the pet store just so they can get some exercise. We do sometimes wait until the dusk and take them for a walk, but it is still pretty hot even at 8p.
It will be nice when this heat wave does finally break!! Stay cool and hydrated in the mean time.
These are great ideas – thanks so much for sharing them! Hope you guys get a break SOON!
Big hit with my twin 5 yo boys this summer – freezing little plastic animals in random containers (old cool whip containers, etc), then thawing them with the hose or their bare hands – ice is always good for keeping cool!
They’ve also rigged up the showerhead nozzle for our garden hose over the top of the playset so they can swing through the water. 🙂
I haven’t tried the ice trick yet – but it’s a great one! Love the swinging through the water idea too! Thanks so much for sharing!
