Thankfulness We Can Hold On To

thanksgiving family group hugs

I was brought to tears today by a friend who had to say goodbye to her newborn daughter.  I read her words about saying goodbye to her little frame in her last hours and it shakes me, it breaks my heart, and it forces me to once again give thanks.

We thought we were saying goodbye on Clark’s second day of life.  We thought God’s plan might have involved us loosing them all. I had visions of severely special needs children, with a lifetime of care required.  We didn’t know that He would have this for us. He chose to GIVE instead of take away, and we don’t understand why.

But we are again humbled with thankfulness.

We love them differently knowing that we get to hold them in our arms, rather than visiting a gravesite. And we hold them even tighter knowing…

It’s a thankfulness we can hold on to.

{Happy Thanksgiving to you ALL!  We are grateful that you continue to follow us on this journey. What a gift we’ve been given to share!}

    Happy Thanksgiving to you to, this is just the time of the year we remember all we have to be thankful for even though we are thankful throughout the year. You have a beautiful family and thank you for sharing your stories with us! Your friend in East Texas, Pam.

    I am so sorry for your friend’s loss. What a heartbreaking, yet beautiful story.

    Having been blessed with healthy quadruplets is amazing. I am incredibly thankful- more than I could ever put into words, yet hearing stories like this and multiple losses gives me something like survivor’s guilt. I wonder why we were chosen to bring our children home and raise them. I know one day we will be with God and see his whole wonderful plan, but until that day I can’t help but wonder- why us?

    I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Squeeze your blessings and give thanks!

    I know what you mean; I’ve had several friends lose babies over the past couple of years and it never gets any easier. We just returned from a trip last month to San Antonio to visit one of my best friend’s baby who is on the heart transplant list at 6 months old. Definitely makes you so grateful.

    I vividly remember the fear and uncertainty of the risky pregnancy that you endured. We prayed for you and for the four lives in you to have a safe delivery and good health. However, we knew if God chose to be glorified through taking them on to Heaven, we would still accept His Will and praise Him. Now we thank Him every day for all your lives and health. How blessed we are to have 8 healthy grandchildren that we love dearly. God is so good!
