We had an awesome check-up on Friday. Our boys are growing and thriving – Praise be to God! Here are the updated weights in birth order:
Henry: 16lbs. 3oz. (2 lbs. 12 oz @birth)
Brooks: 15 lbs. 14 0z. (3lbs. @birth)
Clark: 16 lbs. 11oz. (3lbs. 7 oz @birth)
Isaac: 19 lbs. 3 oz!!!!! (4lbs @birth)
29% of you guessed correctly on Isaac’s weight. Congratulations, winning voters, you get the joy of changing a dirty diaper of your choice redeemable any day of the week!
Everyone is on the growth charts for weight for actual age. A huge accomplishment, because usually they are still going by the adjusted age for charting (5 months vs. 7). Isaac is in the upper 50-75% for his actual age. Henry is not our “little Henry” anymore -he’s passed up Brooks! Our doctor was quite pleased with everyone’s progress and isn’t referring us to any therapies at this time. It was a very encouraging appointment.
Our first shot at cereal was Saturday. It was pretty much a disaster, but last night showed measurable improvement. We are anxiously awaiting our feeding table to be shipped. A group of our volunteers went together to basically cover the cost for us to purchase one and now after trying to feed them in 4 bouncy seats on the floor, we are even more excited to use it (and so are our achin’ backs)! I think it will be a HUGE blessing! Thank you to all of you who went together to make it possible, it was an incredible surprise. We’ll post more pictures as our adventure in solid foods continues!
Also, we would continue to ask for your prayers for our family. We know that we are well “out of the woods” by now, but raising four babies is a challenge, especially as we are trying to feed 4 babies at the same time, and as I have less help coming in. We are definitely staying positive and LOVE this adventure, just pray that we would have strength, patience, endurance, and energy to run this race and for wisdom in upcoming decisions. We are soooo grateful for each of their lives and want to raise them to our best possible ability through God’s power. Often, we catch ourselves trying to do so much on our own, without depending fully on HIM! This is how you could specifically be praying for us. Thank you so much, friends!

That is incredible that they weigh so much. I had a full term single baby who is 18 months and weighs 19.5 pounds so your 4, especially Isaac are really doing great.
wow that is awesome that they are growing so big!!! One of my twins didnt hit 20 lbs til about 15 months old!
I found your blog through Suzanne’s. What a joy it is to read about fellow Believers and see your testimony lived out each day. As a fellow mom, I’m going to go out on a limb about the feedings. Don’t beat yourself up with cereal and baby food. Your boys are growing so well, and apparently are on target developmentally. Check with your pediatrician, but my advice would be to introduce “spoon” food as you have time, help and sanity. Otherwise, let them use their hands, i.e. mash a banana and just put it on the table in front of them, do a few rice krispies-they disolve faster than Cheerios for the young ones. This will introduce them to new textures as well. In the meantime, realize that if they skip cereal and jar food, it won’t be the end of the world. You are a GREAT MOM!
They’re growing well. It’s amazing!! I understand your concerns and will pray for you. When my twins were born 18 months ago, we also had a 5yr. old, a 2 yr. old, and a 1 yr. old. It was and still is a lot of work. It’s worth it though. But it’s also ok to feel tired and overwhelmed at times. It is getting easier as they get older, and it will for you too.

I stumbled across all of you cute Quad mommies recently while doing some online searching for info on quads for a friend of mine (due with Quads in February) My husband now calls me a quad addict! I especially have loved following the steeces…but your boys are SO cute! I told Suzanne that it is crazy to see others around my age who have FOUR babies!! I have a 2 year old and 7 month old… I think it is awesoem that your`premie quads weigh so much already! My 7mo was 8.13 at birth so we’ve always been chunky…he weighed 20lbs at his 6m visit!
But your boys are so cute. I continue to be amazed at how God provides such sweet babies!

Hi,
Just another idea to help with feeding times…Have you seen those little mesh containers that the babies can hold? I’ve seen them at Babies R us? You could put a little mashed up fruit in them and give them to 2 babies to suck on while you feed cereal to the other 2 and then switch. With teeth coming in, it might feel good for them to chew on the mesh also!

Hi! Yes, we’ve got quads too. Ours are 7 years old now, 3 boys and a girl. How gorgeous yours look 🙂 I vaguely remember the multi-feeding systems and multiple cryings, but fortunately, memory doesn’t serve very well as to the details of no sleep etc. … Ours were born week 26, btw, a little under 1 kilo (2.2 lbs?) each — but they’re fine now, very “normal” and as big as their big brother was their age :o)
