Hands on My Heart…
This morning I found our Valentine’s Day card from last year in our NICU Memory Box. Lisa, our primary night nurse made it for us, and it’s something we’ll hold on to for life! It’s really surreal to think about how tiny and precious their hands were a year ago. Tomorrow is the BIG One Year Check-up and we’ll get to see how much they’ve grown all around! I had this grand idea of re-making the card with their big boy handprints for a Daddy card, but let’s just say it wasn’t meant to be (but I have ink stained hands to prove we tried)…..

i tried to do something similar for Brian. I used clay and my handprints in it. We have some stamped hands and feet cards for Brian when they were 18 days old. Brian turned 30 that day while they were in the NICU and one of our nurses made sweet little cards for him…so i tried to do something similar. It’s so hard to get those squirmy little hands to hold still.
I’m sure you’ll look back years from now and be thankful you took the time to do it!

oops. not MY handprints…we MADE handprints. anyway–i’m sure you understood what i was saying. sorry my head is sleepy–we had our 6 mos shots etc today so it’s been crazy!
I know I probably over use this adjective…but really there’s no better word for baby hand prints than – PRECIOUS.

Those little hand prints are just priceless! What a joy to have those little fellas around for Valentine’s Day!
I just attempted to do a “handprint valentine” from my son to my husband. Let’s just say I got a half of a handprint smudge, and a big red stain on my carpet!
What a wonderful keepsake – and then to have your hand with them makes it even more special…and I must say – it doesn’t seem all that long that your hand was pretty small when I held it and you bounced along with your long curls! That is such a cute card – you really should have it framed – then you can protect it and display it at the same time.

I agree with a poster above – you should have it framed and matted!
Just a thought – you could try to do their handprints one at a time while they are napping. Then their hands will be able to be opened by you, inked, and put on paper. If you have a sturdy object, like a clipboard, holding the paper, that works great, too! And I wouldn’t worry about the placement on the paper – you can always cut them into squares or use fancy scissors to cut them out and then put them on a card. Just an idea – if you’re up to trying it again!
I did handprint flowers in flower pots with 18 month old twins – the girls were more intersted in body painting (they were in diapers only!) than in handprints. But I got a few that turned out well! Needless to say, to the tub they went!

I finally got a moment to watch the video, you have such amazing babies:) I love checking in and seeing them grow, you are doing such an incredible job with them. They are so beautiful! Our babysitter made us a pillow with our daughters hand prints. It was so sweet. She had to trace out nine month old’s hands while she was sleeping and then paint them on. Thought I would share. Thanks for sharing your lives with us, I think you are doing an amazing job and also an inspiration to moms everywhere.
