Our 1st (and possibly only) Q & A….

First and foremost THANK YOU for your outpouring of encouragement and congratulations through the past week. I’m glad I could share little pieces of our celebration of LIFE with you…..

I’ve been a bit stumped on how to follow up what has been some of our best blog posts ever (in my humble opinion). I can’t possibly beat the 1st Year Video, Cake Pics, or 1st Bday Memories! So I’ve decided to attempt a Q & A….Hopefully I don’t kick myself for it later!

I’ve selected a FEW questions/comments that I’ve been getting via comments or email.

Please don’t be offended if I didn’t choose your specific question. There’s probably a variety of reasons why I did not (ie: It was too intrusive, I’ve answered it before on this blog, I don’t know the answer, or because I’m just mean like that -HA!). I also would ask that you refrain from turning this post into a forum of comments/questions that you would never say aloud to your grandmother……(I’m typing this with a smile, but in all seriousness there is some REAL negativity in the air these days in the blogosphere, so I ask that you’d respect our family and keep in mind that our boys will be reading this someday.) I do read every comment, but screening every comment would be much too time consuming. On the other hand, I do like to promote blog interaction….just use some descretion! We’ll see how it goes and who knows perhaps we’ll turn this in to somewhat routine post?????

Let the Q&A; Commence….

~What Artist/Song Titles did you use in the video montage? (-Anonymous)

“All Things New” – Watermark

“Ordinary Miracle” – Sarah McLachlan

“Everything Glorious” – David Crowder Band

~Where do you get a feeding table like you have? (-Stacy, Auntiem)

You can find out more details here, but we researched and found it for the best price (plus free shipping) at http://www.justmultiples.com/ It’s our all-round favorite “multiple” product! Yep, Suz, original seats + still room to grow!

~Where did you get your plastic bibs? (- The Donovans)

Baby Bjorn. Love ’em! Rinse ’em off and they’re good to go for the next feeding. Best part: no extra laundry!

~Are Brooks and Isaac “the twins”? (-Joan’s Musings)

Trust me, I get the “which ones are the twins” question a TON! I’m always tempted to say “they all are!”, because truly they are ALL either fraternal or identical twins or to say, “none of them, they’re quads!”….but I get it, you want to know who’s identical: Brooks and Clark are the 2 peas in 1 pod!

~What color are my kitchen walls? (-Karen)

Glad you like them, but I have trouble remembering the last time I brushed my teeth. I can’t recall the paint color from 3 years ago. Sorry. We got it from Porter Paints – hope that narrows it down to a few thousand.

What would you recommend for a Hospital Bed Rest Kit? (-Amanda)

Hmmm…I think I’m better at NICU Kits…maybe my quad sistas could chime in with some great suggestions for this one….Anything homemade is appreciated when your “institutionalized”, toe polish, lotion, music, sudoku, a visit????

~Which hospital did we deliver at? (-Dawn)

St. Vincent’s Women’s. Can’t say enough great things about the NICU care we received. Check out the commercial we were featured in on their behalf if you haven’t already…..

~How’s come our kiddos didn’t have to wear cranial bands like Suz’s? How did you get them in shape post-birth without them? (-The ever so popular Anonymous)

Without getting too “medi-techno”….Although the boys’ heads were quite a mess at birth due to being soooooo cramped inside me, somehow our kids’ heads have shaped up remarkably well on their own. (They did use a Halo Pillow in the NICU for Henry’s preemie head) However, this does not mean I did or didn’t do something right. Simply, our little guys heads were more pliable/soft and more symmetrical. Congrats to the Steece Quads for escaping theirs so quickly!

~How do we tell our boys apart? Do we use bracelets, etc.? (-You guessed it!)

We just know. I wish I could tell you the secret, but I can’t really describe it. They seem so distinct to me….Brooks and Clark are the trickiest, but once you’re around them for a while you begin to pick up on the little things. Their personalities are all sooooo different as well.

Okay – – I keep my 2 nieces and 1 nephew sometimes and a couple of weeks ago, they spent a Sat. night with me–so Sunday morning is a challenge to get them all ready for church: make sure the dog is cared for, breakfast, dressed x 3, teeth brushed, girls hair curled, me dressed and all the fixings, then to get ready to walk out the door and smell Carter has messed his pants – so I rush back to the bathroom with him (it’s a huge mess), clean him up and start for the door again and make the 30 minute drive to Danville to get to church in time to get the kids where they need to be and get to the piano for the service. My thought during this whole process was how in the world does Jennifer do it with 4 the same age and maybe 4 messy pants? I was exhausted when I got to church — or should I say relieved? haha! I’m sure Brad is a huge help to you – but still….do you just crash when you hit the bed at night? Of course, you are MUCH younger than I am – and maybe that’s the ticket – huh? haha! anyway – great job sweetie!!! You amaze me! Darla

Any post is a great post! Don’t feel you need to keep up with your big milestone posts – they are all interesting to those of us not used to quads in our lives everyday. Getting to see growth, play, development, interaction or just mundane daily life is interesting when looking at four adorable little boys! Every time I read your blog I’m reminded of these identical boys we had. They are so much like your boys and I just try to imagine four of them. I love the idea!

I just think your boys are so adorable!

Here’s a question (we always get asked this with my 9mo son): Who do you think each of the boys look like – you or your Brad or both?

It’s hard to tell with the pictures but I think that Isaac has Brad’s eyes and that the other boys (definitely the twins) have your eyes – what do you think??

  9. hello IF and WHEN you get the chance stop over to my spot I have a prayer request. I am calling on all my online mommys who I feel know the power of prayer so any and all are welcomed.

Very intersting, love the Q&A; posting.
    May I ask…..
What does a quad pregnancy do to your body after like an year? You Quad moms just loook so great… but Im curious if you gals are hiding something.:) Its always amazing to me too see how 4 babies can grow inside and how the skin just manages to keep on stretching somehow. Please dont feel liek you have to answer… just thought Id ask.

Also…do the boys favor you or Brad?

What are each of the boys personality?

One more thing, this has always left me so curious. Why do you have to delete comments? Are people that rude and negitive? Im so sorry for you guys, it just breaks my heart, because you and Brad are doing a fantastic job raising your sons in such a loving christian home. Keep it up!!!

    Thanks!! Heidi

Hope this isn’t too invasive, please feel free to skip over it or delete this comment if it is, but:
Would you and Brad consider having anymore kids or are you completely done?
Thanks and I think your boys are adorable and that you guys are doing a fantastic job of raising them

    Jen and crew,
It’s your old neighbors Daniel and Becky here. I hadn’t been on your blog in awhile and thought I’d look you up. I was so happy to see the boys first birthday. You have not been far from my thoughts in the last year or so even though we don’t see each other anymore. I had tried to contact you when I found out you were pregnant but had never heard back. I had gotten updates through Dawnelle though and kept you in my prayers. I’m glad to see that you and your boys are doing well. Daniel and I have 2 children. David will be 3 in a couple weeks and Madelyn will be 2 in May. I admire the fact that you can keep up a blog and even write complete sentences. HA! There are some days with my 2 that I barely can speak a complete sentence let alone type one in. HA! I would love to get together with you guys sometime if you would be interested. We live in Avon now and would love to have you over for dinner to get caught up and meet your precious family. I’ll leave you my e-mail on here for you. lusk_becky@yahoo.com Take care and enjoy your babies!

BTW I loved your cupcakes so much that I decided on a monkey theme for David’s b-day. Thank you.

thanks for taking the time to answer my question! it was very helpful info and im going to order it from the site you recommended! you should get commission! hehe.
can you post a pic of the twins side by side..id like to see if i could tell them apart! have a great valentines day..with your handsome little men!

De-lurking to say that I admire your positive energy Jen! As mama to twin 2 1/2 yr old boys, I cannot imagine how you keep up with double what I do.

As for the question re: hospital bedrest kits, in reading Horton Hatches the Egg to my boys recently I found that Horton’s commitment to sitting on that egg spoke to my experience with 11 weeks of bed rest. So that might be a fun thing to include in a bed rest kit that could be enjoyed later on, too.

Just sending a little “positivity” to counteract the negativity floating around the blogosphere. 🙂 Very interesting post.

Ikea also has great plastic bibs, just like Baby Bjorn’s — only cheaper! BEST bibs around.

  22. Thanks for the info on the bibs…i gotta have those bibs…we just started baby food…oh my!!! As far as the bed rest kit…any snackable foods that DON’T have to be put in a fridge. Lotion & Ocean Nasal Spray is a must because the hospital air is so dry! I also found elastic headbands to be priceless for those MANY days I did not feel like dealing with my hair.
