The Nester Christmas Tour Of Homes

Christmas Tour of Homes with The Nester

Today I’m on tour with The Nester Christmas Tour of Homes and showing you a few pictures from our humble abode a la Christmas.  You won’t find these splashed on the cover of Southern Living Magazine, but nevertheless it’s our “Home for the Holidays”.

Speaking of “Home”, How cute is this advent house?  It’s new to us this year (a last year Target clearance find), and it’s been interesting to see what treasure we can fit 4 of in each door. It’s been something the boys look forward to doing each day, “Mama, wanna do the house!”

Stockings are my absolute favorite things to pull out of the Christmas boxes.  This year the boys know who’s is who’s and can point to and name each others.   Not sure what I’m going to put in them yet…any ideas that won’t cost a fortune x4?

Our new 9 ft. tree!  (Yet another 75% off Target end of the year steal!) Squeeeee!  I LOVE it.  I couldn’t picture how it would look inside our house, but it’s perfect.  Of course like any other tree it looks even better in the dark.  Don’t you love how a Christmas tree lights a room at night? I think all it needs is a little package love for the tree skirt. =)  Guess I should get on that, huh?  Maybe I should finish my little bit of shopping first! =)

I scored these little frames a year or two ago at Michael’s for $3 a piece.  Are you catching a theme here?  Usually I have candles hanging from this rack, but I replaced them with these little wooden signs for the season.

The boys got one Christmas gift a tad early, once I found this Little People Christmas Story Nativity* over 1/2 off, (thanks to a tip from Keeping the Kingdom First).  I really wanted a nativity scene for the boys that would remind them early on of the true meaning of Christmas. It’s so sweet to watch them play with the characters and sing “Away in the Manger” while they play.  (*Affiliate Link)

These are a few of my favorite Christmas decor items in our home.  I’d love to hear about your own styles and favorite trimmings. If you’d like to show the lovely interweb some of your festive Christmas decor, head over to The Nester and add your link.  (And leave me a comment so I know who’s to be sure to click on…there will be hundreds of participants in this yearly tour of blogs.)

****For those of you visiting from The Nester, please feel welcome to join us on our adventures in raising quadruplets.  We’d love for you to make yourself at HOME with us!

Keep on Decking Your Halls (and Trees and Mantles, and Doors, and Rooftops, And You Get the POINT)! =)

Santa always fills our stockings with things like band aids (the fun kid ones), new tooth brushes, scotch tape for crafts and of course some sweet treats. Matchbox cars are an inexpensive hit with my kids too. Hope that helps give a few ideas!

Love all your beautiful decor – the after Christmas sales are the best!

  2. LOL! We're all about the Target clearance too!

And I have four girls, so I love to come across other four-of-a-kind families!

    Your home is beautiful!

Check out the dollar bin at Target and Michaels, they had some really cute stuff, I got mini slinkys for all three of my kids today and my older two are 20 and 22…they will love them!

  7. I've never seen the Little People Nativity set before. What a fun idea! And your tree is beautiful. Thanks for inviting us in! 🙂

  8. The house looks GREAT! Stockings are my fav as well!!!! My kiddos are getting a new toothbrush, new washable markers & crayons, coloring books, new eating utensils ($1 bin at Target) & a keepsake ornament from Santa in the stockings this year. When Aidan was your boys' age he LOVED watercolors…Crayola makes washable…have you tried that yet?!?!?

  9. Your home is just beautiful. May many wonderful Christmas memories be made within its walls.

Our home is having an old fashioned handmade Christmas this year. I hope you will stop by.

  10. Those stockings are such a treasure! I can see why you love to unpack them.

When I was a child there were 5 kids in the family. We always got fruit, nuts and candy in our stockings. Also did that for my children when they were younger.

And of course all little boys love the little match box cars.

    Merry Christmas to your crew.

The first commenter totally stole all of my stocking stuffer ideas, LOL, guess i am not original as I thought, HA! I try to make the stocking practical, the fun bath soap for kids, new pajamas, the bandaids and toothbrushes are always a hit, chapstick, socks, underwear, I know OH SO EXCITING, but my kids love it, and the bulkier items like socks take up a lot of space! GOOD LUCK!

I have three toddlers (a singleton and then twins only 12 months behind him) and have a stocking stash this year mostly from the Michaels and Target $1 section. Stickers, stamps/stamp pads, markers, little cars and animals. I'm sure I'll throw a candy cane in there, too. 😉

For Easter baskets (not that you asked, but since I have a plan I thought I'd share :D) I'm planning to do their bathing suits, sun hats, and sunglasses for the summer, with just a little bit of candy.

  19. Kate says:

I love that little people nativity scene!! Just might have to get one of those. 🙂

    Hey Dollface,

My mom just brought over the quads an early Christmas present this morning…guess what it was – the Little People Nativity set. Just got done taking pictures of them playing with it. Too funny. How cool that yours will be playing with the same thing, now I will think of you when ours are playing with it.

    Love ya Sweets,

  31. Elaine A. says:

I SO want that nativity for my kiddos but didn't want to spend the money! I'm sure it's worth it though…

Your new tree is gorgeous! Merry Christmas to you and your boys! : )

  32. Gabby says:

I got that same advent house from my hubby as a gift last year! I love it, and my two kids take turns opening. I have stuffed it with candy rings, those little champagne poppers, mini pens, lip gloss, those little popper things, tiny finger puppets, and in the top I have a tech deck waiting!
I had to share because I spent so much time trying to cram stuff in!

  33. JCF says:

My 2 year old son is getting some wooden cars that I found in the Target dollar section, a Pez dispenser, a little bag of M and M's (he doesn't usually get candy, so this is a major treat!), a new toothbrush, a new sippy cup (takes up a lot of space!), a new box of crayons, and maybe a couple of other small items if I find anything!

  34. Viki says:

I love your decorations and the many bargains you got. Those signs are so cute. Wow, I'm surprised you have time to decorate LOL. What a blessing those boys must be.

  35. We love the Little People Nativity at our house as well!

  36. We have that same little nativity. Precious!

Our stockings our filled with fun soap, toothbrushes, snacks, etc. Stuff that I would need to buy anyway…

Also, homemade playdoh is the EASIEST thing ever to make, and is so much nicer than the store stuff. That would be a fun one.

  37. Carol says:

Wow, quadruplets! I'm impressed and your little guys are gorgeous. I am a mom of twin, identical boys plus 3 older children (boy, girl, girl). Twins are so much fun.

I love all of the your decorations and your tree is beautiful. The Little People nativity is precious and I think your boys will get a ton of use out of it.

    May the Lord bless you,
Carol from Joy in the Journey

  38. Ruth says:

Everything looks beautiful. I love Target, especially anything you can get on a good clearance sale at Target!!!

For stocking stuffers that won't cost a bundle~little cars, crayons or markers, the magically growing character faceclothes (you can find them at the Dollar Tree, sometimes) and some fun soaps to go with it.

    Ruth

  39. Anonymous says:

We stuff the stockings with crayons, markers, cars, little trains because I don't like to have a whole bunch of candy we are not going to eat or need.

  40. Shelby says:
