Trying NOT to Make the Headlines

Have you ever watched one of those political talk shows on TV where they invite several “adults” on the show and they all talk over the top of one another. You can’t understand any of them! I personally find it annoying.
As our boys continue to grow and gain more intellectual independence, they also have four differing opinions about nearly every subject. Sometimes the conversation is laced with lots of giggles, sometimes with passion, and many times with tears. I could not help but draw the similarity to our political leaders and pundits on TV. Maybe our boys have a future in this type of work, they are getting lots of practice!
Jen and I readily admit that the noise level in our home has reached a point where it can quickly take you right to the edge. We have to remind ourselves and each other regularly of the importance of stopping to take a deep breath, pray, remind ourselves of God’s Word, and then reengage our children in love. We want to make sure you never see us in the headlines, sent to a padded room somewhere. This is one difficult part of having four ALMOST 4 year old boys. (less than a week!)
While it is difficult, I cannot express the joy that the current stage brings us daily. I LOVE this age, and wish I could freeze them right here. NO MORE GROWING PLEASE. Our gracious God has given us really amazing kids, I am really looking forward to another great year with them!

I laughed so hard over your post! This is exactly how I feel EVERY day, I have 5 children and run a home daycare. My husband could not figure out why I needed QUIET at 9pm, until he got hurt at was home for 2 weeks and heard the noise level of 6 kids 5 and under all day long! Then the big kids would come home from school and a whole diffrent noise would begin. So I am with you in the not being in the headlines, some days I would willingly go to the padded room though!!
Oh how I can relate to this, too! I have 4 year old twins and a 2 year old plus I am a teacher…so I truly savor the (few) quiet moments in each day!
I can only imagine the debates that occur in your household. But really 4 in a week, wow! Happy early birthday to them all! That picture though? Absolutely precious! Unfortunately with a 5 and 7 year old of my own, I’m not seeing a vast improvement on the idea sharing front. Some yes, but … ahhh the fun of parenting!
Oh my…. I was thinking of you guys today as my four small boys {6, 4, 2 & 2} were causing my ears to bleeeeeeed this morning here in the land down under. I knew when I had a moment of peace {twins naptime} that I would make a point of coming to your blog today to check in for a moment of “I know how you feel”… except you have quads… I just have four small boys close together in age {I don’t only have four but they were the ones doing just what yours were doing in your post}.

Gracious–I have one two-year-old girl that never stops talking. I can’t imagine 4. Best wishes with that!
PS Your wife tried to steal my baby boy and bring him back, but I don’t think you need crying in addition to all that other noise. 🙂
I can relate, too, but in a little different way. I have 3 puppies all just a little over a year old. They want to run and play and bark at each other constantly! Add to that – a teenage daughter, 2 large parrots and a mess of cats and the noise level in our house is often to the edge. It is really bad when visitors come over as everyone seems to want their attention and will jump, bark, squawk, meow, etc. to get it. Thankfully my family and friends are used to it and it doesn’t bother them too much!
Oh my WORD! The adorable factor is off the charts!!!
